Mrs James H Walker died at the home of her daughter, Miss May Walker, on Sunday December 17, 1932 and her remains were brought to Abbeville Monday afternoon and buried at Long Cane Cemetery. She was a native of Abbeville, born Susan Quarles, daughter of Mr Quarles and Mrs Agnes Perrin Quarles, prominent in the history of Abbeville. For many years Mr and Mrs Walker lived near Abbeville and farmed. Later, they moved to Atlanta and for a generation have lived there.
She was 86 years of age and is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs Wiggins and Miss May Walker, supervisor of schools in Atlanta, James Walker and Lewis Walker, all of whom were here for the funeral, as were Perrin Walker, a grandson, and Mrs R L Dargan of Spartanburg (SC), a niece. T P Quarles of Spartanburg is a nephew and Mrs Paul Kennedy of Abbeville is a relative. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and her mother was one of the founders of the church of Abbeville.
