George Leonard Bloodgood, a resident of Villisca nearly 30 years, died at his home here Tuesday morning at 2:10 o’clock, his death resulting from cancer. He had been in failing health for the last 3 years.
He ws born in New York state on January 30, 1855, and was 71 years old at the time of his death. He came to Manchester, Iowa when he was a boy and that he was married to Ellen Akers on May 6, 1877. To this union seven children were born, two of which died in infancy. The remaining children are Guy, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Howard, Louisville, Nebraska; Mrs Bessie Grace Morgan, Utah; Mrs. Bertha Starts, Des Moines, and Mary of Villisca.
Mrs. Bloodgood died in Villisca, September 19, 1922. Mr. Bloodgood was married October 4, 1923 to Mrs. Sarah Taylor in Villisca, who survives him and also three sisters, Mrs. Henry Porter, Manchester, Iowa; Mrs. Joel Schedule, Huron, South Dakota; and Mrs. Lavina Rice, Grendale, Washington.
Mr. Bloodgood was a member of the Methodist Church. His body was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Home to await the funeral, which was held at 2:30 o’clock in the Christian Church with Rev. Dessie C. Pilalas in charge of the service. Interment was in the villisca Cemetery.
