He married Celia Bonham on December 10, 1801, in Mercer County, Kentucky. Their children are Phoebe Durham 1802-1872, Richard Durham 1804-1806, Jeremiah Briscoe Durham 1806-1882, John Durham III 1808-1875, James Harlan Durham 1811-1831, Harriet Durham 1813-1814, Samuel Durham 1815-1864, Elizabeth Briscoe Durham 1818-1876, Jesse Youce Durham 1820-1876, Celia Jane Durham 1826-1901, Jonathan B Durham.. He died on September 19, 1855, in Boyle, Kentucky, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in Perryville, Kentucky at the Durham Cemetery.
