Earl Edward Wilburn, 52, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007.

Earl was born August 30, 1955, in Atchison, KS, the son of Harold F. and Mary E. Clem Wilburn.

He attended Atchison Public Schools and Atchison High School. He attended and graduated from Butler County Community College, Eldorado, KS, with an associate degree as an electrician. Earl served in the U.S. Army from August 31, 1972 until his honorable discharge on August 30, 1978 at Fort Dix New Jersey. Hel was employed with the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a lineman on the travel gang.

He was a member of the Catholic faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Additionally, he had written several sporting articles on tips and techniques for a sportsman magazine.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband; Michael and Mindie Wilburn Foster, Effingham, KS, a son and his wife; Michael and Brandy Wilburn, Everest, KS, his mother; Mary Wilburn, Atchison, KS, his father and step-mother; Harold and Catherine Wilburn, Horton, KS, three sisters; Phyllis Chapman, Effingham, KS, Mary Rose Tucker, Denison, KS, Kelly Feagins, Pilot Point, TX, a half-brother; Lowel Henry Conard, Atchison, KS, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Harold P. (Bubba) Wilburn.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB officiating.

Interment will follow in Sumner Cemetery, south of Atchison, with military honors by the U.S. Army Honors Team. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, December 14. Visitation with the family will follow until 8 p.m.
