PONTOTOC – Ruby Roye Vining died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Sunshine Health Care Center in Pontotoc. She was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Pontotoc County to Noble and Henrietta Roye. She was married to Sam Gillum until his death. In 1956 she married Robert Vining. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a Civil Service employee, working on the Army base.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Bro. Fred Hartley and Bro. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Curtis (Tom) of Olathe, Kan.; two grandchildren, Lori and Monica; two sisters, Mildred Carnell of New Albany and Lora Haley of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Roye and Bobbie Roye of Pontotoc; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Sam Gillum, father of Rita; her second husband, Robert Vining; one sister, Wilma Cathcart; and six brothers, Cecil Roye, Edd Roye, Charles Roye, Clyde Roye Sr., Marvin Roye and Boyce Roye.
Pallbearers will be her great-nephews.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery
