LARRY TEMPLETON DIES IN HOSPITAL ON SATURDAY

Larry Templeton, local engineer and member of fraternal organizations, died at Mercy Hospital at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 1955, two hours after he had become suddenly ill and was admitted as a patient. He was 55 years old.

Cause of death, according to his attending physician, Dr. John Balley (?), was a very large blood clot in the artery leading to one side of the brain.

His untimely passing comes as a shock to his family and many twin city and area friends.

He was a member of Lake Shore lodge No. 298, Free and Accepted Masons, and of the St. Joseph Elks lodge No. 541.

Survivors in his immediate family are his widow; Mrs. Pearl Templeton, of 748 Columbus Avenue; two step-daughters, Mrs. Louise Osterling, of LaFayette, IN, and Mrs. Charles Giberson, Kalamazoo, and a step-son, Dick Byers of Benton Harbor.

He also leaves two brothers, Harry, of New Buffalo, and Earl of South Bend, IN, a half-sister, Mrs. Warren Helm of Kokomo, IN, five grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Templeton, his brother, Harry, and another brother, Jerry, (deceased) were triplets.

Templeton was born in Newton, IN on Nov. 23, 1899, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Templeton of that community. Prior to coming to Benton Harbor 23 years ago, he lived in South Bend, IN, for several years.

For 10 years he was with the Ross Carrier Company here serving as a crane demonstrator. Then for a time he operated his own crane. Recently he became connected with the Herithy Mid-Continental Construction Co. of Chicago, which is now building the local Britain avenue viaduct bridge.

Templeton was a member of Engineers Union Local 324.

Funeral services will be held at the Floritt funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. H. A. Blanning, D. D., of the First Congregational church in charge.

Members of the Masonic lodge will attend in a body and conduct their ritualistic services. Ladies of the GAR, of which Mrs. Templeton is a member, are expected to attend in a group.

Burial will be in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI.
