She was born on March 12, 1907, in Floodwood. She was the second of seven children born to Finnish immigrant parents, Andrew and Fanny (Simi) Heiskari. She grew up in Floodwood and then attended Duluth Superior Teacher's College.
Lillian was always an educator, whose first position was at a one-room schoolhouse in rural Broadus, Mont.. She was elected Powder River County Superintendent of Schools in 1938 and was re-elected in 1942. During Lillian's terms, she met her husband, Charles Seymour. They were married on December 20, 1944 in Broadus Montana, and were married for 48 years.
When the couple moved to Billings, Mont., Lillian continued to teach and received both bachelors and masters degrees by attending evening and summer classes. She was a district reading specialist and set up elementary education programs at Rocky Mountain College.
Lillian was active in many organizations. A member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, she was elected Montana's Worthy Grand Matron in 1972. She was also a national officer in Alpha Delta Kappa. Lillian was active in Girl Scouts, Daughters of the Nile, Red Cross, and others. She was an avid bridge player. She and Charley moved to Floodwood in 1989 and Lillian began writing the Senior Citizen's Column in the Forum. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood.
Charley Seymour died in 1993, and Lillian moved to Villa Vista Care Center in 2003.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families.
