Margaret Willis Hamblin
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Margaret Willis Hamblin, 92, died March 15, 2012, in Tempe. She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Snowflake to Joseph Stratton Willis and Wilmirth Flake Willis.
Margaret married J. Dudley Hamblin July 29, 1937. They resided for a short time in St. Johns, raised their family in Phoenix, and retired to Snowflake about 20 years ago. Margaret loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia Montgomery and Suzanne Heninger; sons: Robert Hamblin, Duane Hamblin, and Dennis Hamblin; 35 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and three of her children: Joseph Hamblin, Julia Larson, and Bruce Hamblin. Margaret was one of the last living grandchildren of William Jordan Flake, who founded Snowflake in 1878.
Possessing great faith in God and in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, Margaret served in many church callings over the years. She enjoyed music (including singing with her lovely soprano voice), giving gifts, visiting, reading, and helping her loved ones be prepared.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the McQueen Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17817 S. McQueen, Chandler, AZ 85286, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. The interment will be at noon Saturday, March 24, in Snowflake.
