Mr. Levi Cornman, one of the oldest residents of Newport, Perry county (sic), died Thursday evening, May 14th, of cerebral hemorrhage, superinduced by several paralytic attacks at intervals during recent years, the last of which he received on Monday, May 11th.

He was a son of Martin and Sarah J. (Humer) Cornman, and was born in Carlisle, Pa., March 9, 1824. He was a tanner and went to Newport in 1872 to work at tanning. He continued at this employment until failing health compelled his retirement twenty-five years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was married in 1857 to Miss Elizabeth Lusk. His wife and five children survive. Funeral services were conducted at his late home on Sunday at 5.15 p. m., by Rev. William Dorwart, rector of Nativity Episcopal Church. The interment was in Newport Cemetery.
