Death of Henry Cully.
Henry Cully died at the Larned Sanitarium last Saturday morning. Dec 16th, following an operation which had been performed the Monday before in the hopes of saving his life. The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Berdon of Esbon, Kans., a former beloved pastor of the deceased at Claflin. Rev. D. McCormick also assisted in the services. Interment was in the Larned Cemetery.
Henry Cully was born in Union County, Indiana, July 15th, 1858, and was 53 years, five months and one day old at the time of his death. He came to Kansas in the fall of 1879 and had been a resident of this state since. He settled at Wichita, later moving to Kiowa, and from there went to Claflin, where he was in the banking business for five years prior to moving to Larned. In January, 1911, he moved to Larned to become president of the Farmers State Bank, in which he had purchased an interest.
He was married in 1884, and is survived by his wife, one son, O.L. Cully of Larned, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Leedy, of Logansport, Ind. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for 25 years.
While Mr. Cully had lived in Larned less than a year, he had made a large number of friends by his kindly, courteous manner, was becoming a factor in the town's business life, and was held in the highest esteem by his friends and business associates. The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to the wife and son in their sad bereavement.
