Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 9, for prominent area business man, Donald R. Boneham, 89, of Marinette, WI
Visitation continues on Saturday, April 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. George Olson will officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Marinette. He died Monday, April 5 at Bay Area Medical Center.

Born Oct. 25, 1920 in Macon County, Ill. to Frank L. and Florence (Carwile) Boneham, he moved with his family in 1924 to the Harmony, WI area, where they farmed. He attended local schools and graduated from Marinette High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1938.

On Jan. 3, 1942 he married his high school classmate, Lorena Larson and the couple celebrated 68 years of married life, residing on Highway 64 for many years.

During the years of World War II he worked for Unit Structures in Peshtigo. In 1945 he began operating his own cabinet shop and the business later grew into Hall Avenue Building Supply, which he operated for over 35 years, until closing in 1982. During those years, he was also an active building contractor in the area, constructing over 200 homes in Marinette and Menominee Counties. He also donated the land for and built the present Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette. He later became a real estate broker and appraiser, working in his own business beyond the age of 80.

In the mid 80’s, he and his wife, Lorena moved to Pembine, WI where they resided for almost 20 years, before returning to Marinette five years ago.
While in Pembine he assembled a group of investors that purchased the Four Seasons Club and operated it for 12 years. The couple were world travelers and enjoyed trips that included Central and South America, New Zealand, Australia and Europe. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. After many years as members of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette, they became members of Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine. He was also a past-president of the Marinette County Board of Realtors and a member of the Elks Lodge and Odd Fellows Lodge.

Along with his wife Lorena, he is also survived by three children: Mary Cain and James (Rosemary) Boneham of Marinette, WI and Paul (Pam) Boneham of Kenilworth, Ill.;
nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by three sisters: Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Spatafora of St. Petersburg, FL; Ethel Larson of Gulfport, FL and Mrs. Bob (Betty) Dietz of Wausau, WI and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol Jensen, Margaret Williams, Marilyn (James) Gould, Judy Wendel, William Larson and Clarence (Frances) Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Julius Jensen; two brothers, Carl Boneham and William Jensen and three sisters, Vera Blaurock, Lois Presti and Ruth Cochiaro.
