Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Christian Church at Elliott for George Henry Rosecrans, 73, who died Monday at Lewis Nursing Home in Villisca, Iowa, where he had been confined for seven days before his death. He had been in poor health for two years. He made his home with Mrs. Clarence Givan of South of Stanton.
The Rev. Esch of the Christian Church in Harlan, Iowa was in charge of the services. The body was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca and then to Elliott for the funeral. Pall bearers were Alfred Adams, Harrison Petty, Blair Botts, Justin, Johnson, A. A. Anderson, and Clair Peterson. Burial was in the old Presbyterian Cemetery in Pilot Grove township.
Mr. Rosecrans was born January 8, 1868 in Indiana, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Tomas Rosecrans. He was married to Lydia Jane Ashburn in August 6, 1890. Four children, two boys and two girls were born, three are now living, Guy R. Rosecrans, Hillsboro, Oregon, Mrs. O. J. Jane, Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Clarence Givan, south of Stanton. One daughter died in infancy. There are seven grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Talbert Rosecrans, Hillboro, Orego, and Oliver Rosecrans, Clarinda, and two sisters, Mrs. America Boyd, Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Deli Figgins, Council Bluffs.
Mrs. Rosecrans died in 1920 and in 1926 Mr. Rosecrans married Stella Ferris Brewster, who died last January.
Mr. Rosecrans had lived in the Elliott area since coming to Iowa.
