Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Newman Funeral Home in Centreville. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Centreville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John L. Ash III and the Rev. Frank Camp officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville.
Mrs. Nickel was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Centreville. She was the daughter of John L. Ash Sr. and Minnie Vine Ash. She was retired owner and operator of Ash Hardware Store in Centreville. She was an active member of Centreville United Methodist Church as long as she was able. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women with majors in chemistry and microbiology.
Mrs. Nickel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David S. Nickel Sr.
Survivors include one son, David Stratton Nickel Jr. of Centreville; one daughter, Hannah N. "Kay" Tanner of Overland Park, Kan.; two grandsons, Joel Stafford Nickel of Prairieville, La., and David Keith Tanner of Great Bend, Kan.; and two great-grandsons, Cody Stafford Nickel and Beau Stratton Nickel, both of Prairieville.
Pallbearers will be Joel Nickel, Keith Tanner, Richard Earl Ash, Dan Tanner, Hiram Odell and Roy Ash.
Memorials may be made to Centreville United Methodist Church.
