Ralph Floyd Payne, age 84 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed at his residence early Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, R.L. Payne, Waleska and Randall and Geraldine Payne and Jerry Lee and Jerrie Payne, all of Talking Rock; daughter, Katherine Mashburn, Jasper; brothers, Albert and Clinton Payne, both of North Carolina; and sister, Alice Payne, Jasper. Twelve grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Payne; parents, William and Armenda Payne; daughter. Maryann Southerland; sisters, Mammie Bains and Lily Leanord; and brothers, Arthur Ed and Homer Payne.
The funeral service was held Friday, March 5 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Carter officiating. Interment followed in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery near Murphy, N.C. Pallbearers were: Tim Pack, James, Arnold, Jamie and Ray Payne and Russel Hart.
