Thomas E. Connelly Dies After Six -Year Illness
Thomas E. Connelly, 57, of 841 Hilltop road, Caldwell Man or, died at 2:15 o'clock this morning in Ephraim McDowell Memorial hospital after having been ' ill for about six years with a heart ailment.
Born July 2, 1906, in Danville, Mr. Connelly was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church here. He was widely known for his fine rose garden which many people visited over the years and he had been a member of the American Association of Rose Growers for about 16 years. Mr. Connelly's last position before he retired was with the Southern Railway System as a roundhouse foreman. Before going, with the railroad, Mr. Connelly had served as chief of the Danville City Fire Department and had also been employed as a member of the Danville Police Department, Connelly made the race for deputy sheriff a few years ago With Sam Dexter, when the latter ran for sheriff of Boyle county.
His wife, Mrs. Alba L. Connelly, died several months ago.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Thomas E. Connelly Sr., 320 North Third street, and a brother, James R. Connelly, of the same address: a sister. Mrs. C. A. Sallee, 507 North Third street; three nephews, Joe Tom, Jim Bob and Buddy Sallee, and a niece, Miss Sally Ann Sallee, all of 507 North Third street
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning at SS. Peter and Paul Church here by the Rev. Father Thomas Malloy. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery, Casketbearers will be Chester Mack, Frank M. (Zeke) Dexter, Edgar Hoover, Fred Stone. Chester Wallin and Cecil DeLond.
The body is at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home where friends may call after 1 o'clock to night
The Rosary will be said at Wedneday night.
