Cynthia A. Hughes, one of 10 children to William & Lura Hughes, married William D. Cargill on July 4, 1886 in Hart, Oceana, MI. To this union 4 children were born & raised in Shelby, Oceana, MI:

1. Stella M. Cargill (1887-1975) m. Earnest E. Jones;
2. Infant Cargill (b. unknown date d. before 1900);
3. Vesta P. Cargill (1894 - ?) m. Clyde R. Day;
4. Gladys M. Cargill (1901-1968) m. Charles F. Dawson.

Cynthia was a retired private duty LPN. I do not know why the tombstone birth year is different than her (birth) census records in 1870 & 1880. However, I must admit, Cynthia fibbed a bit about her age to the census takers throughout her adult years. Her death records from Oceana County (Book 3, Page 115, Record #7734) states she died at the age of 64 years 8 months 23 days, which would make her birth year in 1869.
