Death of wife:
Thea died on October 15, 1910 less than a month after giving birth to her daughter, Anna. Thea and Max's children were then raised by Lena and Andrew and they appear at 4932 Austin Avenue in Chicago in the 1920 US census.

Second marriage:
On June 8, 1919 he married Mary E. Zukerman (1890-?).

Death:
He died on January 23, 1920 at 1447 South Trumbull Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. He appears in the Illinois Death Index as number 6002694. He died of pneumonia from influenza. He had been working as an electrician. On his death certificate he was listed as married to "Mary E. Caro". His death was 7 months, and 16 days after his second marriage.
