Bonnie Ann Ames Miller, 73, died surrounded by family on March 17, 2012, in Logan, Utah, after a short yet courageous battle with cancer.
Bonnie was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Ilez Edwards and Clinty R. Ames. She was the third child of six and learned to work as a young girl on her family's farm in the Uintah Basin. At an early age, she was taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ by her parents and developed a lifelong love for the church and her Savior Jesus Christ. She graduated from Altamont High in 1957. Shortly after, she moved to Logan, Utah, and began attending Utah State University. A fellow USU choir student whom she eventually came to love and marry quickly noticed her. On Sept. 11, 1958, she was sealed for time and all eternity to H. Edward Miller in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From this point on, she would begin her magnum opus: her family. She would eventually have 11 children, 40 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mom was always active in church and held many callings; most notably, and probably her favorite, was choir director. She had a beautifully unforgettable voice and was a talented piano player. She loved to tend her garden and fruit trees as well as the numerous flowers she planted - a passion she passed on to many of her children. During her life she was able to travel to Europe twice, to Mexico and across the U.S. She was an active member of the DUP and spent much of her time researching her family genealogy and doing LDS temple work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Edward Miller (2007); and a son, Patrick Paul (1978). She is survived by her children, August (Becky) Miller of Highland, Utah, Becky (Kerry) Lehman of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Eric (Salli) Miller of Blackfoot, Idaho, Lotti (Keith) Merrill of Logan, Utah, Sandy (Jeff) Jones of Washington, Utah, Angela (Boyd) Hunter of South Ogden, Utah, Corey (Rossana) Miller of Richmond, Utah, Daniel (Heather) Miller of Richmond, Utah, Rachel (Jeromy) Jamison of Logan, Utah, and Jeni (Clint) Graves of Pembroke, Ga.; as well as 40 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, plus two on the way.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, March 23, at the Richmond, Utah, LDS Stake Center, 135 W. Main St. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. just prior to the service. An additional viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main St., Smithfield, Utah. Interment will be in the Richmond, Utah, cemetery.
Her children would like to thank all friends, family and ward members who took the time to visit Mom, send flowers, food and cards. We would also like to thank the many hospice nurses and nurses aides, especially Adrienne, who we all came to love and know as she kindly cared for Mom's needs. We know our mother was loved and are grateful for all the support she received in her final months on this earth. May God bless all those who served.
