Mathew Weeks, 82, of near Willis, died yesterday following an accident in which he received a broken hip. Death was the result of the shock. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow and burial will be in the Weeks burial ground.
Mr. Weeks was one of the county's pioneer citizens, a member of the Masonic society, a large landowner, a progressive farmer and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He lived his entire life in the Burk's Fork district.
He is survived by his wife and nine children, including Claude Weeks of Roanoke and a brother.
