William Warnock born 2 August 1794 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland to Andrew Warnock and Elizabeth Brown. William was a weaver by trade and when a young man he made ten shillings a day weaving Paisley shawls.
On 2 January 1819 he married Jean Adam in Paisley, Abby, Scotland. They had eight children one of which died as a child. William Adam Warnock their youngest child said his mother died when he was but seven months old. Fever at that time had attacked the family and they were removed to the Royal Infirmary where his mother died and father was in such serious condition that that mother was three days buried before they told him of his loss.
Father married a widow when I was four years old, a very splendid woman, who taught me as a child to read. However she died when I was seven years old. My two older sisters, Margaret and Jane had left for the United States and soon thereafter my father came to New York to live with his daughter Margaret. He died there in 1861.
