EUGENE --- William Howard Tedd, 67, died Thursday.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he lived in Sheridan before moving to Eugene. From Linfield College he received Bacheler and Master of Arts degrees in education, the latter in 1960.
He married Norma Maffitt on Aug. 7, 1954 in Portland.
He started his teaching career in Newberg before moving to Sheridan where he coached basketball, baseball, and football at Sheridan schools. In 1957 he went to work in the Eugene School District, teaching social studies at Woodrow Wilson and Thomas Jefferson Junior High School. He retired in 1984 after more than 30 years of teaching. He also worked with the Eugene Boys Athletic Associarion.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Eugene Elks Club and the Emerald Valley Golf Club. An avid golfer, he finally achieved a hole in one while golfimg in Portland.
He is survived by his wife; sons, James of Eugene, John of Portland and David of Gresham; and brother, Robert "Bob" of Salem.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Internment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Oregon City. Contrinutions may be made in his memory to the church, 1385 Oakway Road, Eugene, Ore., 97401. Arrangements are by England's Eugene Mortuary.
