VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE: The Passing of a Good Mother
Mrs. Samuel Perkins, pioneer resident of this community passed to the Great Beyond on Monday, February 2nd, after a lingering illness of many months duration at their home in the village, at the age of seventy-four years.
Sarah Alvira Corson was born April 10, 1846 in Niagara County, New York. She came to Wisconsin in 1853; was married November 23, 1864 to Samuel W. Perkins; was a resident of this vicinity for 64 years and of Cashton for 20 years. To this union were born nine children, one dying in infancy. All the rest were here to attend the funeral.
There are left to mourn her departure the aged and faithful husband, three sons and five daughters, namely: Reuben of St. Paul, Minn; Edwin of La Farge; Arthur of La Crosse; Mrs. Pearl Hughes of Westby; Mrs. Vincent Wilt of La Crosse; Mrs. Emil Erickson of Cashton; Mrs. Carl McDaniel of Westby and Mrs. Ernest Davis of Lithfield, Minn. She also leaves 36 grandchildren and 19 great-grand children.
On Nov. 23, 1919, she and her husband celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
She joined the Advent church at Clinton July 23, 1876 of which she was always a faithful member. Always a loving and faithful wife and mother; never tiring of doing for others; self sacrificing, bearing all the years of suffering patiently; trusting always in Him who doeth all thinks well; was ready and waiting for His call.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
The funeral took place yesterday, Feb. 5th, with services at the ___ at 10 o'clock and at the Sugar Grove Methodist Church in the afternoon. Burial was made in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. (remainder of article missing) (Handwritten note 1920)

CASHTON. Wis., Nov. 26.— (Special).—
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Perkins celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Monday, with a Golden wedding party at their home.
Three sons, five daughters, several grandchildren were present.
