Funeral service for Atha Wilson, age 89, of Grandfield, will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the First Christian Church, Hydro, Oklahoma with Mike Suiter, Aspire Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in the Hydro Masonic Cemetery under the Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Wilson passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at her home in Grandfield.
Atha Williams Wilson was born on December 17, 1922 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Charles Frank and Evelyn Winford (Carver) Williams. She attended Hydro Public Schools and later went to beauty school in Clinton. On May 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ernest Lee Wilson in Hydro. Over their married life, they had lived in Hydro, Rocky and Cache communities. After she and Ernest retired in 1984, they enjoyed traveling in their R.V. They spent their winters in south Texas and summers traveling all over the United States and abroad. They lived life to the fullest. In June of 2007, they moved to Grandfield to be closer to family. She was a member of the Hydro First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband Ernest L. Wilson of the home; one daughter Carol Lewis and her husband Lavon of Grandfield; one son Leroy Wilson and his wife Jane of Forsyth, Illinois; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Bertha Elliot of Hinton, Myrtle Cloninger of Hydro, Linda and Dean Glasgow of Weatherford and Jo Ann Wilson of Yukon; five grandchildren: Jimmie Case of El Reno, Bobby Case and his wife Annie of Shawnee, Bill Lewis and his wife Kriston of Grandfield, Mary McClimon of Decatur, Illinois and Kary Makarczyk and her husband Rocky of Smyrna, Tennessee; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Leta Case; one grandson: Kristopher Lewis; four sisters: Christine McClure, Martha Elaine Williams, Martha Schnell and Cleola McPeek.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 19, 2012 from 5 until 7 at the funeral home in Frederick and Tuesday morning from 10 until 11:30 at the church in Hydro.
