During the Civil War Lud served in Company A of the 6th. Kentucky Confederate Army fighting in Georgia. After the war he decided to stay in Georgia. He married 17 Nov. 1867 in Elbert Co. Ga. to Susan Elizabeth Snellings. Lud & Susan resided in Elbert Co. Ga. until 1889 when they moved to Jefferson Ga.
