Wendell Hampton Keith, 94, of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at Woodlawn Manor Nursing Home in Arnold, Missouri.

He was born July 18, 1907, in Alto Pass, Illinois, son of Henry Ardell and Gertrude Atchison Keith. He and Elizabeth Dillow were married Dec. 31, 1943, at Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Keith taught school in Alto Pass, Illinois, five years, and was principal and teacher at Grand Tower, Illinois, 20 years.

He was a charter member of Grand Tower Lions Club, member of Grand Tower Park District 15 years, and member of Shawnee School Board nine years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Warren Keith of Arnold, Missouri; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Illinois, from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
