James P Wells, 81, died at 11 pm Saturday at the Five Maples Nursing Home, Hopkinsville, after a long illness.
A retired farmer, he was born in Christian County on May 29, 1886.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lee Edwards, Greenville, Mrs. Myrtle Shelton, Elkton, Mrs. Hazel Shelton, Hopkinsville, Mrs. Loya Mayhew, Fort Meyers, Fla., and Mrs. Pauline Heltsley, Seminole, Calif.; five sons, Winburn Wells, Buffalo, NY, James Wells, Paducah, Beckham Wells, Fort Meyers, Oscar Wells, Hopkinsville, and Donald Wells, Chicago; 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a brother, Wheeler Wells, Hopkinsville.
Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Gary's Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Woodrow Morris. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery in Christian County.
