Samuel C. Fox, of 229 Belview Ave., Hagerstown, died at 4:10 a.m. today at the Washington County Hospital. He had been in failing health for a number of years and was critically ill and confined to the hospital since suffering a heart attack Monday.

Mr. Fox was born at Foxville, July 13, 1910, son of the late Charles R. and Florence B. (Brown) Fox. His early life was lived at Foxville and Mt. Zion.

Following their marriage in 1933, he and Mrs. Fox lived at Sabillasville before moving to Hagerstown in 1958.

As a young man, Mr. Fox was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad for several years. He later worked at Frick Co. and prior to his retirement in 1968. Mr. Fox was last employed by the Pangborn Corp. for 13 years.

His wife, Mrs. Lillian M. (Black) Fox died in March 1972.

Mr. Fox was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ., Sabillasville. He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose No 371, Frederick, and the Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Sanders, Sabillasville, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Wilbur M. Fox, Mrs. Hilda Sanders, Mrs. Ray Kuhn, and Joseph J. Fox all of Sabillasville and Clifford M. Fox of Sykesville.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Claude H. Corl. The interment will be in the Bethel Church Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
