He joined the Navy 3 weeks before turning 18. This way he was able to choose which branch he wanted to be in. So on his 18th birthday the Navy came into his High School and he was in the Navy. He severed on the USS Gleaves dd 423, a battle ship as an electrician. When the war finished he went to a vocational school and finished in 1947. He was in the Navy Reserves during the late 1940s and was activated for the Korean War and served on the USS Bradshaw submarine. In 1951 he married his high school girlfriend. He started working for his father-in-law, Percy. Percy business was called Coronado Rapid Transfer. Bob eventually bought the business and bought the franchise of a Delcher moving company and called his branch California Rapid Transfer (CRT). Bob was the father of 3 sons and one daughter.
