William Damme Dies Here After Long Residence On Same Place.
Was Ill Two Months
Funeral Services Will Be Held at Evangelical Lutheran Church Here Saturday.
William Damme passed away Tuesday evening, April 29, at 8:45 at his residence four miles south and one mile east of Wayne, which had been his home the past forty-three years. Mr. Damme was ill the past two months and reached the age of 74 years, 7 months and 11 days. Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Wayne Saturday at 1:30 following services in the home at 1 o'clock with Rev. H. A. Teckhaus in charge.
Mr. Damme was born in Berger, Mo. He married Miss Albertina Johanna Schutt In Otoe county, Neb., March 31, 1883. The family lived in Otoe county until 1887 when they came to the home farm southeast of Wayne. Fifteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Damme, nine of whom survive. Mrs. Damme passed away June 80, 1929. The remaining children are: Ed Damme, Carl Damme and Mrs. William Schroeder of Wayne, John Damme of Cheyenne county. Neb., Mrs. Harry Suehl and Fred Damme of Winside, Mrs. Hans Henricksen of Fort Pierre, S. D., and Albert. Damme and Ben Damme at home. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder have been staying at the Damme home the past year helping care for the latter's father.
Deceased leaves eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Damme is survived by his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Damme of Berger; Mo., who a 95 years old, two sisters. Mrs. August Kelley of Berger, Mo., and Mrs. Henry Wittler of Hartington, and four brothers, Henry Damme of Talmage, Herman Damme of Silver Creek, Fred Damme and Louis Damme of Oakland, Neb.
Mr. and Mrs. John Damme and daughter of Cheyenne county are here. Mr. and Mrs. Hans. Henricksen of Fort Pierre, S. D., planned to arrive Wednesday, Other relatives and friends will also be here from a distance for the funeral.
