Obit: Taken from Odessa American: "Nina Mae Almquist Nichols...Odessa Nina Mae Almquist Nichols, 73, of Odessa, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Abilene Regional Hospital.
She was born December 26, 1932, to Robert Ervin and Violet (Johnson) Smith in Eastland. She was a route delivery carrier for the Odessa American newspaper for ten years, delivering to Alpine, Marfa, Fort Davis, Seminole, Denver City, and the surrounding areas.
She was a very caring person and always helped others who needed help. She looked after the people she took care of every week without fail until she was no longer able to do so.
She was a member of the YMCA where she attended the women's water aerobics class. She also enjoyed making crafts and doing embroidery work. She was an active member of Chapel Hills Baptist Church where she thoroughly enjoyed and loved attending services.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Gerald Almquist. Services were held at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Box officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Survivors Husband, Don Nichols of Odessa; sons, Larry Almquist and wife Linda of Odessa and Jack Almquist and wife Naomi of Hermleigh; daughter, Arlene Laxton and husband T. R. of Olden, Tx.; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren".
