According to a Shaftsbury, VT historical society book (Ruth Levin, Ordinary Heroes: The Story of Shaftsbury, 1978, Shaftsbury Historical Society, second printing, 1990, p. 22), Elihu Marsh, like Ebenezer Wright, daughter Rachel's brother-in-law, was stripped of his lands during the American Revolution for being a Tory. The Wrights (also Tories) moved west and into Canada. Elihu apparently stayed in Connecticut.
