Virgie Lorene Barncord
EMPORIA--Virgie Lorene Barncord, 101, Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Emporia, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1993, at a Tulsa nursing home.
She was born Dec. 9, 1891, at Emporia, the daughter of Virgil and Lydia Gates Wynkoop. She was graduated from Emporia High School and attended Kansas State Normal School at Emporia and Emporia Business College.
Mrs. Barncord was a member of the United Methodist Church in Emporia.
She was married to Charles Nathan Barncord Oct. 16, 1915, at Emporia. He died Aug. 15, 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jean Owen, Tulsa, Okla.; a son C.R. "Bob" Barncord, Albuquerque, N.M.; four half-sisters, Alice Beck, Wheat Ridge, Colo., Myrtle Hartley and Dorothy Woodell, both of Ashland, Ore., and Jane Edmunds, McMinnville, Ore.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Carlson Funeral Home in Emporia. Private graveside services will be Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Emporia. Family and friends will meet an hour before service time Friday at the funeral home, where memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Emporia.
