Gene Junior Boughton (June) passed away March 14, 2012 at Edgewood Vista in Missoula Montana.

June was born in Jordan, Montana on April 26, 1924 the son of Eugene and Jessie Boughton. The family ranched in the Haxby area, later moving to Eastern Oregon and then Nez Perce and Potlatch Idaho. When June was 15 he returned to Haxby country and lived with his oldest brother Bert. June bought a ranch nearby and lived and ranched with Bert and sister-in-law Bernice (Toots). June raised cattle, sheep and played with horses as well as farming. Bert passed away in 1969 and in 1971 June and Toots were married. They continued to ranch at Haxby until selling in 1979 and moving to Miles City. June worked at the Diamond Ring for a time and also leased a ranch in the Broadus area before returning to Miles City and then in 1989 they moved to the Mission Valley and ranched near St Ignatius and later retired in Ronan. June was always in the garden and loved to pick vegetables and send them home with his guests. June never did lose his love for Eastern Montana.

June loved the spring season, the new calves and colts and the planting of the garden. We will all miss him and his warm smile.

June was preceded in death by his wife Toots, his parents, an infant brother Howard, brothers; Bert, Glen, Bud, Bill and sister-in-law Opel.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Custer County Cemetery.
