Sudden Death Of San Juan Island Pioneer Frank Boyce, Old Time Resident Succumbs to Heart Failure

Acquaintances of Mr. Frank Boyce were very much surprised to learn, early Friday morning, that he had passed away as a result of heart failure, when apparently enjoying the best of health. Mr. Boyce was one of the pioneers of the Island, born October 15, 1852. At Georgetown, California, and at the time of death was 71 years, one month and 23 days of age.

Frank Marion Boyce came to San Juan Island with his parents at the age of eight years and had made his home here ever since.

He was married to Miss Sarah Simpson of Victoria, B. C., July 29, 1874, and had he lived they would have celebrated their golden wedding July of next year.

To this union were born ten children. He leaves his aged wife, and five daughters: Mrs. A. B. Mehus, Mrs. Charles F. Ross, Mrs. Emily V. Sareand, of Seattle; Mrs. D. Earl Baker of Port Angeles; Mrs. W. A. Clement of Friday Harbor; and two sons, Ralph V. and Marion of Friday Harbor. There are also ten grandchildren. There are four brothers and four sisters: John H., Stephen V., Orin R. and William Boyce, of Friday Harbor; Mrs. August Wold, Mrs. Joseph Sweeney, Mrs. August Anderson, of Seattle; Mrs. Donald Erickson of San Francisco, California; and a host of acquaintances throughout the county.

Mr. Boyce possessed a kind disposition and pleasing personality which won to him a large circle of friends, who join with the family in their sorrow. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, interment in the Valley cemetery.
