N.R. Clements
SNYDER -- N.R. Clements, 86, lifelong local resident, died Friday in a local
hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Snyder First United Methodist Church with
Dr. Craig Curry and the Rev. Charlie Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in
Hillside Memorial Gardens, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Clements was born in Scurry County and was a member of the 1931 Snyder High
School football team that went undefeated. He attended McMurry University and
served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He formerly owned and
operated four theaters and two drive-in theaters, all in Snyder, and co-founded
Snyder Cable Antenna Television in 1958. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a
member of Scurry Masonic Lodge 706. He was active in the Ritz Theatre
renovation. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widower
of Jeanette Lollar Clements, whom he married in 1942 in San Angelo.
Survivors include two daughters, Janeen Patterson and Carla Allen, both of
Snyder; two sisters, Frankie Lewis of Ruidoso, N.M., and Ruth Mosley of Dover,
Ark.; two brothers, Henry Clements of El Paso and James B. Clements of Llano;
four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, West Texas Rehabilitation
Center in Abilene or Shriners Children's Hospital.
