Viron Washburn, 79, of Pleasant drove. died Tuesday, Oct 21, 1986 in American Fork.
He was born May 15, 1907 in Monroe to Peter Abraham and Eliza Lowe Washburn. He married Mary Lorraine Jense May 31, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She died Nov 7. 1983.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, holdnig the office of High Priest in the Pleasant Grove 3rd Ward. He had served as ward clerk and held many stake and ward offices in genealogy work. He was a Provo Temple worker for nine years.
He attended schools in Monroe and graduated from South Sevier High School. He graduated from Utah State University.
He was a veteran of World War II, and served as both local and district commander of the American Legion post.
He had been employed by the Utah State Road Commission, Bureau of Reclamation and as a chemist for Geneva Steel for 26 years.
He is survived by one son and one daughter: Mrs. David (Marianne) Kjar, American Fork; Mark Washburn, Pleasant Grove. 12 grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters; Parley Alvin Washburn, Cottage Grove, Ore; Fern Larsen and Thelma Ogden, both of Richfield; Hoover Washburn, Monroe; Bill Washburn, Ogden; Betty Lou Parker, Kearns; Leola Brown, Sigard.
Services will be Saturday at 11 am in the Pleasant Grove 3rd Ward 400 E 200 N. Friends may call at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 S 300 E, Pleasant Grove. Friday 6-8 pm or Saturday at the church one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
