Faylin S. Finch
ARNOLD — Faylin S. Finch of Arnold died Jan. 4, 2004, at Linden Court in North Platte. He was 75.
He was born Sept. 2, 1928, at the Arnold Hospital to Fay and Ruth McFarland Finch. After graduating from Arnold School in 1947, he attended Kearney State College.
During the Korean War, he served four years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Allen M. Sumner ship. He later worked for Halliburton Oil Company in Worland, Wyo. After returning to Arnold, he began to operate the family ranch.
On April 18, 1965, he married Diane Craig in North Platte.
Mr. Finch served on the Arnold State Bank board of directors, was a member of the Masonic Custer Lodge 148 in Broken Bow, Elks Lodge 1688 in Broken Bow, Veterans of Foreign Wars 6157 in Arnold, American Trap Association and he coached Little League baseball. He was an award-winning trap shooter and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golf and attending the Nebraska Cornhusker games.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tracy (Doug) DeLaet of Kearney and Pam (Kirk) Szwanek of North Platte; a son, Craig (Brenda) Manley of Morrill; 10 grandchildren, Stefan and Schylar Franssen, Ryan, Sarah and Steven Manley, Tara, Robbie and Heather Mills and Nathan and Noelle DeLaet; a sister, Patsy (Bub) Kilmer of Arnold; and nieces and nephews, Steve Kilmer, Kim and Stan Schied, Kent and Gloria Kilmer, John and Amy Kilmer and Annette and Stoney Clark.
His parents and an infant brother, John, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Arnold United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 130 and VFW 6157 of Arnold.
