Henry B. Nauert, 87, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Stamford Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stamford with the Rev. Jacob West officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home 807 S. Columbia St. Stamford, TX. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry was born in Rule, Texas on August 9, 1924 to Edwin F. and Gertrude Walters Nauert. He was a lifetime resident of the area and graduated from Rule High School prior to serving in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1946. On July 13, 1951 Henry married Virginia Dryden, she preceded him in death November 7, 1988. Henry managed the Dryden Monument Company for several years until his vision began to fail in 1972 and he took early retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford, the Odd Fellow Lodge in Abilene and the Taylor Co. Sheriffs Posse. Henry served on the consumer advisory board for the Texas Commission of the Blind.
Henry is survived by two daughters; Cynthia Mullen of Abilene, TX, Linda DeValpine and husband Jack of Arlington, Mass; a special nephew and caregiver Charlie Rueffer and his wife Debbie of Munday, TX; one sister-in-law Barbara Nauert of Aspermont, TX; one aunt Hilda Kieke or Sagerton, TX; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother, Marchel Nauert, two sisters, Bertha Nauert and Pauline Rueffer and one nephew.
