Celia Leota Fish, 98 years old of La Crosse, died peacefully at the Mulder Nursing Home in West Salem, Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1912, in rural Clinton Township, Vernon County to Edward and Ona (Harris) Clark. She graduated from La Farge High School in June 1931. Celia married Ceo Fish on June 25, 1932, at Lime Ridge and they farmed for many years in the Westby-Dell and Viroqua areas. They also lived in the Mount Horeb and Madison area where Celia worked for 13 1/2 years at the University Hospital in Madison; they returned to the Westby-Dell area after retirement.

After Ceo's death in 1989, she moved to La Crosse and lived there until she moved to the Prairie Home in Holmen. She became ill in May 2010 and moved back to La Crosse to live with her daughter and son-in-law, until she entered the Mulder Nursing Home on Nov. 4, 2010. Celia loved to make quilts and do embroidery. She enjoyed making scrap books, gardening, flowers and watching her birds.

She is survived by her five children, Alice (Doug) Olson of La Crosse, Ronald (Yvonne) Fish of Tempe, Ariz., Myron Fish of Alameda, Calif., Janice Jeffers of Elkhart, Ind., and Roger (Cherith) Fish of Oregon, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Dirk (Diane) Olson, Sonja Kerr and John Roth, Lisa (John) Sahli, Joel Olson, Steve (Darcy) Fish, Mark (Darlene) Fish, Phillip (Sandy) Fish, Ellen Garcia, Kristen (David) Houpt and Kelly Jeffers; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; any many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ceo; son-in-law, Jerome Jeffers; and four sisters, Chloie (Albert) Peterson, Josie (Phillip) Cary, Marcia (Orpheus) Clausen and Viva (Mervin) McDonald. Blessed be our memory of Celia Fish.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the DELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Karen Bankes, Pastor George Shick and Pastor Mark Fish will officiate with burial in the Dell Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VOSSETEIG FUNERAL HOME, 708 S. Main, Highway 14 in Westby. Friends may also call on Friday at the church after 10 a.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.vossfh.com.

Celia's family wishes to thank friends, David Momont, MD, the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice staff and the Mulder Nursing Home staff for their support and wonderful care.
