TREVORTON — Dorothy A. "Dot" Bowers, 93, of Trevorton, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born in Trevorton, May 17, 1923, a daughter of the late Peter and Dora (Rebuck) Schwartz.
Dorothy was married to Mark R. Bowers, who preceded her in death in 1965.
Dot was a lifelong resident of Trevorton. She attended Trevorton schools.
She was a homemaker. Sheworked at the former Mandata Poultry Plant, and later as a seamstress in local garment factory.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Trevorton, the Trevorton Senior Action Center, Trevorton Patsies and Trevorton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Dot enjoyed socializing with family and friends, playing bingo, music and the outdoors.
She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Swank and her husband, Gary, of Trevorton, Brenada Breinich, of Trevorton, and Bonnie Wolfe and her husband, Dean, of Paxinos; two sons, Mark "Butch" Bowers and his wife, Linda, of Dornsife, and Raymond Bowers and his companion, Debra Giedosh, of Selinsgrove; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowers, of Selinsgrove; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Bowers; a sister, Mabel Reedy; and six brothers, Francis, Peter, Paul, Theodore, Albert and Ralph Schwartz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Steven Frenier officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Trevorton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, 17881. Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
