Died at sea in the collision of the Andrea Doria and the ship Stockholm, off Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, along with her husband, Ferdinand, "Pete" Thieriot. They were returning from a summer visit with her family in Madrid, Spain. Their thirteen year old son, Peter, was with them, but survived. See information under name of Ferdinand Thieriot. Survived by her mother, Mrs. Juan T. de Figueras, step father, Juan T. de Figueras, brother, Juan de Figueras and a sister, Mrs. Juan Daniel Wakonigg, of Madrid. A sister, Virginia, preceeded her in death in 1944. Virginia died at the age of 26 years, two months after her wedding to a Navy flyer in 1944 of Tuberculosis meningitis.
