Zion, Illinois --- Edna Thorn Pate Pounders died Friday December 10, 1999. She was born November 28, 1922, in Nettleton, Monroe Co., MS., to Marshall Jerome and Sedera Dora Rollins Thorn. Edna had lived in Zion, IL most of her life.
She married the late Melvin Leecil Pate on November 29, 1941 and after his death married Burl Andrew Pounders on June 13, 1981.
Edna was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois and a former member of the First Missionary Church in Zion. Edna was a member of the Zion Senior Citizens Club.
Services will be at noon today at the First Southern Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois, with the Pastor Mitch Dowell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Memorial Park with the Congdon Funeral Home of Zion Illinois in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three children; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Two brothers (including her twin brother); Five sisters.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, Homer Rollins and Herman Jerome Thorn; two sisters, Evelyn Thorn and Deliete Thorn.
