Franklin Adam Elias Rothrock was the seventh of thirteen known children of Charles Rothrock (1839–1925) and Lydia Kistler (1848–1943) who married c1865 in presumably Pennsylvania. Charles had previously been married to a Bertha (lnu), with whom he had no known children, although the first of Franklin's 13 children may have been born to Bertha.

Franklin first married Lidia (Lydia?) Anna Sterner (1875–1927) on 03 Oct 1896 at Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Franklin and Lidia were the parents of four known children, namely:

1. Viola May Rothrock Anthony (1897-1980)
2. Pearl Esther Rothrock Schmoyer (1899-1975)
3. Hilda Gertrude Rothrock Henry (1901-1985)
4. Franklin Eugene Rothrock (1908-1981)

In 1900 the parents and first two children were living at Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. In 1910 the parents and all four children were living at Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. In 1920 the parents and last three children were living at Catasauqua, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. After Lidia died, Franklin remarried to the widow Annie M. Shelly Druckenmiller (1883-1951) on 18 Jun 1940 at Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
