Eldorene Ellertson, 82, of Alexandria, formerly of Brandon, died Friday, March 9, 2012.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will follow in Kinkead Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and also one hour prior to the service at Anderson Funeral Home.

Ellertson, Eldorene

Eldorene Majel Freitag was born December 3, 1929 in Alexandria, MN the daughter of Otto and Emma (Jobe) Freitag. Eldorene grew up and attended school near Miltona, MN.

In February 1949 Eldorene was united in marriage to Virgil Zastrow. The couple made their home in Alexandria and was blessed with three children, Marjorie, Roger and Ronald. In 1962 Virgil died at an early age.

Eldorene met Arthur Ellertson and they were married on April 4, 1964. Shortly after being married the family moved to Spokane, WA. They returned to Minnesota in 1968 where they made their home in Mound, MN. Eldorene and Art were blessed with two sons, Larry and Kevin. In 1973 Art and Eldorene moved to Brandon, MN where they lived until 1988. They moved to Glenwood for three years before returning to Alexandria. Eldorene worked as as a private housekeeper off and on. Following Art's death in 2002 Eldorene moved to Viking Towers. For the last two years she has been a resident at Edgewood Vista.

Eldorene loved to crochet, do needlework and create all kinds of crafts. When she could, she enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers. Church was important to Eldorene. She has been a member at St John's Lutheran Church in Garfield, Chippewa Lutheran Church in Brandon and, most recently, First Lutheran in Alexandria.

On Friday, March 9, 2012 Eldorene died at the age of eighty-two years.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Virgil Zastrow and Art Ellertson; her son, Larry Ellertson; four bothers, Leonard, Arno, Wilbert and Vernon Freitag; and two sisters, Darlene Cate and Rosalie Johnson. Eldorene is survived one daughter Marjorie Meier and husband Glen of Hutchinson by three sons, Roger Zastrow of Montrose, MN, Ronald Zastrow of Las Vegas, NV and Kevin Ellertson and wife, Lynn, of Brandon; six grandchildren, Lori Barrick, Cory Meier, Crystal Dressler, Brandi, Ellertson, Heather Ellertson and Amanda Zastrow; five great grandchildren, Tate, Tara and Kale Barrick and Lucas and Van Meier; two brothers, Orris Freitag of Minneapolis and Orval Freitag and wife, Gayle, of Glenwood; and two sisters, Sharon Senneka and friend Don Osterson of Minneapolis and Eldonna Genrich of Alexandria and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Marilee Bergerson will officiate Randy Morken will provide music. Interment will follow in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket bearers include Lori Barrick, Cory Meier, Crystal Dressler, Brandi Ellertson, Heather Ellertson and Shawn Dressler. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
