Mrs. Ruby Melba Barnes Hendrix, age 85, passed away on September 12, 2015 at Brown’s Health and Rehabilitation. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was born in 1930 to Lloyd and Elizabeth “Coot” Barnes.
She was a graduate of Georgia Teacher’s College Laboratory High School. Melba was a homemaker and attended the Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd McKinley Hendrix; a son Floyd Jerral Hendrix; three brothers, William Barnes, Joe Barnes and James “Sugar Boy” Barnes and a sister, Ida Mae “Honey” Edmunds.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Paula Thompson Hendrix of Brooklet; her grandchildren, Gina and James Brown and Stanley Hendrix all of Brooklet; great grandchildren, Jodi Ellis and Trevor and Dalton Brown; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Barnes and Lucille Hendrix and a brother-in-law, George Edmunds. Additionally she is survived by her friends at Browns Health and Rehab and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11:30am at the Hendrix Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Hendrix, Les Spence, Al Barnes, James brown, Trevor Brown and Dalton Brown.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Coastal Georgia.
Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
