Helen Edna Riegle was the youngest of 5 children born to William Clinton Riegle and his wife Catherine Melinda Hartman Riegle. She was born on the the farm established by her great-grandfather, Benjamin Riegle, in Curtin [misspelled Cartin on Find A Grave], Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States. Her great grandfather was still living at the time. He outliving both Helen's father and her grandfather Benjamin D. Riegle. Perhaps Helen had genes from her great grandfather that gave her a long life because she became a centenarian. Helen Edna Riegle Miller lived 100 years 7 months 16 days.

She married Elwood Nathaniel Miller 4 November 1922, which was her older brother, Ralph Rufus Riegle and his second wife, Madeline's 4th anniversary.

ELIZABETHVILLE -- Helen R. Miller, 100, of Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, formerly of 104 E. Broad St., died Tuesday [10 July 2001] in the village.

She was a former board member of the Dauphin County Nurses Association and a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She was the widow of Elwood Nathaniel Dick Miller. Surviving are a daughter, Betty M. Benner of Dayton, Ohio; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday [19 July 2001] in her church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville, is handling arrangements.
