She was born on the the farm established by her great-grandfather, Benjamin Riegle, in Curtin [misspelled Cartin on Find A Grave], Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States. Her great grandfather was still living at the time. He outliving both Helen's father and her grandfather Benjamin D. Riegle. Perhaps Helen had genes from her great grandfather that gave her a long life because she became a centenarian. Helen Edna Riegle Miller lived 100 years 7 months 16 days.
She married Elwood Nathaniel Miller 4 November 1922, which was her older brother, Ralph Rufus Riegle and his second wife, Madeline's 4th anniversary.
