Barbara Rister Petrosky of Georgetown, Texas passed into life eternal on November 10, 2017.

She was born on January 31, 1933 in Granger, Texas to Arthur and Alma Anderson.

She met Milton A. Rister at First Baptist Church of Granger where they were married in 1950.

They were loving parents to three children.

In 1971 they moved to Georgetown and soon after their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary Milton died of leukemia.

In 1979 she married Bob Petrosky who also preceded her in death.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Barbara had a career that included being a legal secretary for Joe B. McMaster, administrative assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of the Texas Savings and Loan Department, secretary to the Vice President of Lamar Savings, and administrative assistant at Westinghouse Round Rock.

She was of tremendous value as administrative assistant and business advisor to her son-in-law, Kim Williams, as he started his architectural firm in Austin.

Barbara was strong in her faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Her faithful service included being pianist at FBC Bartlett, organist at FBC Georgetown (now Main Street Baptist) as well as Sunday School teacher. She was a charter member of The Worship Place (TWP) in Sun City, active member of TWP Benevolence Committee, and she established and organized the TWP participation in Georgetown Meals on Wheels program for over 10 years. She was also a charter member of the Visual Arts Club at Sun City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands as well as her two younger sisters, Dolores Cawthon and Janelle Baumbach.

She is survived by her son Milton A. Rister II and his wife Nancy of Georgetown; daughter Julie Williams and husband Kim of Austin; daughter Laura Scott and husband Greg of Littleton, Colorado and brother J.T. Anderson of Los Angeles as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her six grandchildren each hold fond memories of their “Bama.” They are Michelle Webb, David Scott, Amy Rister, Lilly Scott, Sean Williams and Amanda Rister. She was great grandmother to Reister, Mason, Peyton, Tyler Jude (TJ), Emine, Rister and Reagan.

A memorial service to give thanks to God for the gift of Barbara’s life and to affirm God’s power over death and the belief in the resurrection will be held at The Worship Place in Georgetown at 1 p.m. on Tuesday January 2, 2018.
