Born in Norway, she was first married to James Holmes. With their children, they immigrated to the U.S. in 1847/1848, settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their youngest child, Amelia, was born in Milwaukee in 1849. The family of five is listed in the 1850 U.S. census, with children James and Margaret, both born in Norway, and youngest child Amelia, born in Wisconsin.

Shortly after Amelia's birth, she was re-married to Martin Camp, who was also an immigrant from Norway. They were the parents of a son, also named Martin Camp.

She was later re-married to Mr. Jensen.
