Iva Emma Posey Beard Compton, 94, of Greensburg, Ky. died Friday, July 27, 2001 at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg. Daughter of the late Sam and Mattie Rodgers Posey, she was born on April 3, 1907 in Adair County, Ky., was a member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was married to Alva Eunice Beard, who preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Elam Compton on March 5, 1982, who survives. Other survivors include three step-children, Goldie Redman of Edinburgh, Ind., Lawrence Compton of Columbus, Ind. and Jack Compton of Greensburg; 13 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Hubert Beard in 1928; one step-child, Lindie Compton on Oct. 31, 1997; and the following brothers and sisters, Alvin Posey, Russell Posey, Welby Posey, Floyd Posey, Elbert "Slick" Posey, Lora Rodgers, Della Meadows and Nellie Beard. Funeral was at 1 p.m., Monday, July 30 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Bro. Herbert Janes officiated. Pallbearers were Mike Compton, Robbie Price, Todd Thompson, John Carman, Kenneth Wright and Jim Wright.
