July 22, 1957..............................From the Russell Record July 19 & 22, 1937......Miss Bonnie Lois McKune, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. McKune and Alex Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Schmidt, of Russell, were married at Salina on Monday, July 12.

Alex Schmidt, 69, 558 E. First St., Russell, died Thurs. night at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born June 20, 1914 at Union Grove, WI. He had been a resident of Russell and Barton Co. area since 1921. He and his family had lived on several farms around Russell. He married Bonnie Lou McKune July 12, 1937, in Salina. She survives. They had the Eat-In-Time Cafe in Russell for a number of years. Most of his life he was an independent oil producer. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge.

Survivors besides his wife are three daughter: Mrs. Lane (Janice) Ramsey, Salina; Joanne Schmidt, Wichita; and Mrs. Chuch (Pam) Gudenkauf, Russell; two brothers, Edgar Schmidt, Odessa, TX; and Gus Schmidt, Hoisington; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Emilie) Demek, Hoisington; and two grandchildren.

Services at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Herman Frerichs officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Pohlman's Mortuary in charge.
